North
Bay Mercury Pollution Prevention Outreach Materials The
Mercury Pollution Prevention Program is an ongoing program focusing
on the development of outreach materials and implementing strategies
intended to minimize release of mercury into San Francisco and San
Pablo bays from different sources:
Dental
Offices - NBWA worked
with
the Marin County Dental Society and
Redwood Empire Dental society to
develop a “Set
a Shining Example” flyer for the North Bay region. The
flyer has been distributed
to dentists in the North Bay
region with a survey.
Fluorescent
Lamps - While mercury
lamps save energy, they contain
mer-
cury and therefore must be
disposed of properly.
NBWA member agencies
have developed a residential mercury lamp flyer and
a mercury lamp recycling
sticker for small business with information about proper
fluorescent
lamp disposal and recycling
practices.
